License — Spaniel Syndicate

Short version. The code and the renderer and the unminted art are ours. The likeness of your Spaniel, once you hold it on-chain, is yours — for personal and commercial use, including derivatives and merch, and the rights pass automatically when the NFT transfers. Don't copy the rest. We will pursue infringement.

Proprietary baseline

This repository is published for transparency and audit. It is NOT open source. No license is granted to reproduce, redistribute, modify, fork, deploy, or commercially exploit:

the Rust source for the spaniel_drop Solana program,
the renderer (nft-render.html, js/renderer-engine.js) and pre-rendered visuals under drops/**,
the frontend code (index.html, js/**, style.css, vendor/**),
the ingest, worker, and operational scripts,
the name "Spaniel Syndicate", the wordmark, the "SPANIEL" usage in this branding context, or any derived marks.

Reading the source to verify behavior, review for security, or report issues is welcome and expected. Anything beyond that requires prior written permission. Unauthorized reuse will be pursued to the fullest extent available under U.S. copyright, trademark, and trade-dress law.

Express grant to NFT owners

Notwithstanding the above, the current on-chain owner of a Spaniel Syndicate NFT minted by this program receives, automatically and without further action:

A perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to reproduce, display, modify, and create commercial derivatives of the specific pixel art depicted on, and the metadata associated with, their Spaniel NFT — and only that NFT.
The right to transfer the entirety of (1) to a subsequent owner of the same NFT, automatically, upon transfer of the NFT on-chain. The license follows the asset.
The right to make and sell merchandise depicting the likeness of their Spaniel NFT, to embed it in other works, to use it commercially, and to assign sub-licenses to others for purposes limited to that single Spaniel.

This grant does NOT extend to other Spaniels in the collection, the renderer source or generator output for any other ID, or the "Spaniel Syndicate" name, wordmark, or trade dress. Freezing or otherwise rendering an NFT non-transferable does not extinguish the holder's grant — it just freezes who holds it.

No warranty

The source, the program, and the NFTs are provided "AS IS" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. Mints are non-refundable. Abandoned commits forfeit the 0.1 SOL paid (only PDA rent is reclaimable, via reclaim_stale_commit). The chain is the receipt.
